Session Elders
Steve Cobb
An Elder since 2008, Steve has been a member of Cornerstone since 2004. Steve is currently employed by Lockheed Martin in Pinellas Park. He has a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering and a Masters in Management from Southern Polytechnic State University. Steve is married to Sandra and they have 2 daughters; Kelsey and Lindsay. The Cobb’s enjoy the Florida lifestyle and love to fish, boat and play tennis.
 
Dave Dickmann
Dave is originally from Kansas, and lived in Wyoming, Nebraska and Virginia before moving to Florida with his family in the early 1990’s. He has been married to Nicky for 30 years and they have nine children ages 8 to 29. Dave serves both on Cornerstone’s church session as an elder and on staff as coordinator of Cornerstone’s volunteer ministries and education programs. He is also in charge of marriage and family support.
 
Bill Hogan
Bill is originally from St.Louis, Missouri. Bill graduated from Washington University in St.Louis with a degree in Fine Arts and received a Masters of Divinity from Covenant Seminary in 1972. He was a pastor for 5 years in Birmingham and 1 year in Philadelphia as well as part time for 6 years in St.Louis. Bill has 34 years in advertising creative work. He has four children and six grandchildren. It is a joy to know my children love Jesus and walk with Him.  Bill was elected to the Session in 2007. My passion is to serve the LORD with gladness. My desire is to know and love Him more.
 
Bill Martin
Bill has been with Cornerstone since 1995, serving as an elder, leading worship and teaching adults. Bill’s passion is to see Christian adults deepen and broaden their understanding of faith and the Christian life. He has taught courses and led seminars in Bible, theology, philosophy and contemporary issues. He also developed Cornerstone’s ”Leadership Foundations” course. In 2002, Bill graduated with an M.A. from Reformed Theological Seminary. His full-time job is hosting “The Morning Cruise” on The JOY FM, along with Dave Cruse and Carmen Brown. Bill is married to Kimberly, and they are raising Will, Madison, Adam, Grady and Payton.
 
Tom McGee
Tom and his wife Emily moved to Florida from Coatesville, Pa. They have a son & daughter and 4 grandchildren. Tom & Emily were part of the original core group that formed Cornerstone. The McGees head up the Senior Ministry, Intercessory Prayer Team and serve on the Missions Committee at Cornerstone. Tom is a retired insurance agent and former president of McGee Life & Health. As a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography, Tom is a published photographer who enjoys doing nature photography as well as portrait work. Growing up in a Catholic home, Tom came to know Christ after moving to Florida. He also leads a home fellowship group, and enjoys teaching God’s Word.

Ted Hamm
Ted is married to Lucibeth and they have four children: Craig, Bailey, Benjamin and Jaynie. He is from South Carolina and has a BA in Business from Clemson University. He worked in Human Resources for ten years before going back to seminary at RTS Charlotte where he received his Master of Divinity.
 
Interim Pastor
Daryl Davis
Daryl was born in State College, Pennsylvania and grew up in Hershey, Pennsylvania. After high school, he attended and graduate from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania. He then worked for a year at the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup factory in Hershey before entering Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. Daryl received his Master of Divinity degree from Westminster in 1977 and returned to Grove City College as a campus minister from 1977 to 1980. In 1980 he became Associate Pastor of Providence Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, a position he held until he moved to Sarasota in January 1990 to become Associate Pastor of Covenant Life Presbyterian Church. July – December 2010, Daryl preached at Hope Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, Florida. He joined Cornerstone as Interim Pastor on January 1, 2011.
 

Diaconate
Herb Fanz, Chairman
Herb and his bride Betty have two sons and 10 grandchildren. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and met his wife while attending and graduating from Baldwin Wallace College with a degree in business and economics. Herb’s business life was with Westinghouse Electric Corporation and it took them from Ohio to numerous East Coast cites with their last stop in the Baltimore/Washington, DC area while living in Annapolis, Maryland. We were drawn to Cornerstone while vacationing here as snow birds and witnessed the strength of the body of Christ, which prompted the Fanz’s move to Sarasota. Herb serves as Chairman of the Deacons.
 
Ryan Buskirk
Ryan grew up in West Bradenton and now lives in Lakewood Ranch. He enjoys fishing, watching college football and spending time with his family & friends. Cornerstone Church is where he became a Christian and he serves by helping with the Youth Ministry and acting as a Deacon. Ryan works as a financial advisor and handles planning and investments for those at or approaching retirement.
 
Bill Conerly
 
Steve Cooper
Steve was among the new Deacons installed in 2011. He has been at Cornerstone for several years. His family started to attend a year after the original building was built and he has been in involved small groups, men’s bible study, “MAC” leadership and now serves a Deacon. Steve’s family includes DeAnn, my wife of 21 years, and two sons Ross and Dillon. The Coopers have been in Florida since 1997. Steve is co-owner of some of the local Batteries Plus franchises in the area and is very excited to be in a service roll to Cornerstone as we all continue to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
 
Jim Donato
Jim has enjoyed “freedom in Christ” since November 28, 1985. Since then God has given him talents and vision in medical missions work. Jim is a local Physician Assistant and a servant of the church in the office of Deacon.
 
Jerry Ripo
 
George Scheppegrell, Secretary
George was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Like nearly everyone in that area, he was raised as a Catholic. After his father retired, George moved to the Mississippi gulf coast and later attended Mississippi State University. It was here that he first learned about the gospel, and where he also met his wife, Margaret. When they were first married, George and Margaret headed to Panama City, Florida with George’s high school teaching job. Less than two years later, George and Margaret, along with their infant daughter, Katherine, moved to Sarasota. After two more years, they had their son, James. George and his family began attending Covenant Life Presbyterian Church, where George was ordained as a deacon. He also began working as a Rural Letter Carrier in Venice, and has remained for more than two decades. They have worshiped at Cornerstone since its first service. George serves as Secretary of the Diaconate.
 
Frank Thompson
Frank Thompson was born in Somerville, New Jersey and raised in Venice, Florida . He and his wife Carla, married in 1990 at our sister church Covenant Life, and have attended Cornerstone since 1997. The Thompsons have four sons, Kiersen, Treytin, Casen and Brinton. Frank owns and operates a local pest control company, sings on our music team, leads a home fellowship group and is one of our deacons. He has a very dry sense of humor and enjoys a good laugh. He also enjoys “rocking on stage” with his boys, vacations in the mountains, time on the water, music, eating out, leisure biking, spending time with his family, and NASCAR.
 
Dave VanAmber
David Van Amber is a native Sarasotan and has been a member of Cornerstone since it was planted in 1993. He is married to Pam, has three children and two grandchildren. (Caution: If you mention the grandchildren and the latest photos will be shown!) He was a car mechanic for 20 years before God called him to nursing and he is currently an RN at Blake Medical Center.
