College Ministry
The Cornerstone College Cafe is an outreach ministry of Cornerstone Church that provides support for college age students in the Manatee and Sarasota area. The Cornerstone College Cafe's three "C's" stand for Christ, Character, and Community. The Cafe's mission is to keep the focus on God during the challenging college years and to display Christ like character around college campuses and in the workplace, while reaching out into surrounding communities and becoming servants of God.
The College Cafe has a "menu" of activities and programs to choose from:
The Cafe launched SONSET worship on the bay at New College in Sarasota in February. Held monthly on the last Friday of the month (during the school year) at 5:30 p.m. SONSET includes awesome worship music, a 30 minute biblical discussion with a Q and A session, great fellowship with area college students, and a free pizza dinner. The next SONSET will take place on Friday, October 30th with Pastor Dave Sturkey leading the discussion: What does it mean to be "In Christ." All college age students are encouraged to attend!
"Adopt-a-College Student" is another menu offering targeting those students that are away from home and would like the support of a church family while at college. The adopted family will provide transportation and a home cooked meal at least once a month for their student. More importantly, this is a great way to meet a church family or student and form lasting friendships! Please e-mail jodimiranda@hotmail.com if you would like to be a part of this ministry.
"College Prayer Team": Cornerstone College Cafe has their own prayer team devoted to our college age students. If you have any prayer requests please e-mail jodimiranda@hotmail.com and the requests will be forwarded to the prayer team in a timely manner.
